Thank You for Being a Friend, ˜Golden Girls Parody

To feel the love for “The Golden Girls,” one of the best-written and -acted sitcoms of the ’80s and ’90s, you have only to see the capacity crowd gathered for “Thank You for Being a Friend,” at the Laurie Beechman Theater on Wednesdays.

A woman at my table announced before the show that she could recite whole passages from the series. So you have to wonder what that audience takes away from this drag parody, directed by Nick Brennan, which is so raunchy and overwrought, it’s hard to call it affectionate.
